I'm going to start getting more opinionated on my website. It's nice to write about what's going on in life and keeping you all up to date, but I think I should be able to use this as a venue to state some opinions and observations about things I see in the world. Heck, I'm paying for it, I may as well put what I want to up here. I'm not really sure what I'll start with, but as I develop a well thought out opinion, I'll share it with you all. Not so much to see if you agree, but just to put it out there. Sometimes things just need to be said, whether or not you get a response. Thanks for reading. |

I guess it's not really that surprising that I have a weekend off, but this is the first weekend in a long time that I'm actually at home. I have been working some insane overtime lately. I really needed a weekend to just relax. I had a great time with the family on Easter. I don't see them often enough. Like I said, work has been hectic. Tomorrow is the send off ceremony for the Soldiers who are going to Kosovo. I went out with a few of them last night and I'll probably go have a drink or two with them tonight as well. The Kosovo deployment is tough for a lot of us in different ways. It's very difficult for me as a Squad Leader to send my Soldiers out on a mission that I can't go on myself. It's difficult to feel that level of responsibility for them but not be able to be there to ensure their safety. It's also been difficult for me because of the workload it has created for me back here. I lost my boss and my assistant on the same day so my workload has gotten significantly higher. I'm working overtime to finish the job but I can't keep it up forever. I think once these folks are out the door and on their way, things ought to lighten up a little and I should be able to go back to working just my regular shift and maybe the occasional late night. We'll see I guess. Anyway, I'm spending the weekend catching up on housework and just relaxing. I'm going to try to head over to Bloomington tomorrow afternoon after the send off ceremony to hang out with Damion, Jess, Jack and Anna for a while. It will be good to just relax with some friends for a while. Thanks for reading... |

Yep, that's right. I'm staying home. I think most of you knew that already, but it's still worth publishing. As for Kosovo, I was on the list to go, then I was off the list, then I was on, now I'm off for good. I have mixed feelings about it, but this year will be a challenge in and of itself since my boss will be going. I'll pretty much have to do both his job and mine for the next year. Hopefully it will be a good learning experience and I won't fall flat on my face. At any rate, look for more updates soon. I know I say that all the time. Rob |
